Skills Assure Higher Level Skills Program

If you’re a Queenslander with an unrestricted Electrical Licence, you may be eligible to receive Government Funding assistance to complete your UEE40420** – Certificate IV in Electrical Instrumentation. Under the Skills Assure Higher Level Skills Program, eligible students pay only $500 for non-concession ($250 concession) for their full Certificate IV qualification.

Funding for Western Australia Residents

The WA Government has identified Priority Industry Qualifications to provide its residents with the skills they need to get jobs in high demand occupations across Western Australia.

Under the Jobs and Skills WA Program, Competency Training can provide subsidised training to eligible students to complete a full qualification in

ELIGIBILITY FOR SKILLS AND JOBS WA FUNDING ASSISTANCE

You are eligible for a subsidised training place if you have left school, hold a current electrical licence, an existing worker, your primary place of residence is in Western Australia, and you are:

  • an Australian citizen; or
  • a permanent visa holder or holder of visa subclass 300, 309, 444, 445, 461, 785, 790, 820 or 826
  • a dependent or spouse of the primary holder of a visa subclass 188, 457, 482, 489, 491 or 494

* The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at
enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees. Student Fees must be
made prior to commencing training activity. Competency Training has a census/withdrawal date for each
unit at no less than 20% of the duration between the start date and projected end date. Students who
withdraw in writing before the census/withdrawal date are entitled to a full refund of course fees for that
unit and a 50% refund of resource fees (refer to Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)
2015 clause 6.8.2 of the VET Fees and Charges Policy). Please refer to your Student Handbook for more
information on withdrawals.

Construction Training Fund, WA

The Construction industry is the largest industry in WA employing tens of thousands of skilled workers in over 130 different occupations across civil, commercial and residential sectors.

The Construction Training Fund (CTF) is 100% industry funded through the collection of the BCITF levy which applies to all construction projects in WA.

Eligibility to access this funding is dependent on an individual or a company’s ability to provide evidence of involvement in WA’s construction industry.  Learn more.

JETCO Funding

The Joint Electrical Training Council (JETCO) is CIRTs associated training fund. JETCO offers Eligible employees who complete training related to the electrical contracting industry subsidies to assist with the cost of completing a course.

Eligibility Rules apply *

Approved Training:
To be eligible for a JETCO training subsidy, the course completed must be an approved course.

Training which would be generally considered acceptable would be any training course that is a requirement of the Electrical contracting industry.

Construction Skills Queensland

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent, industry-led, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the Queensland building and construction industry. CSQ provides strategic investment in skills and training to assist employers, workers, apprentices, trainees, and career seekers to develop the capabilities needed across the sector.

Through targeted funding initiatives, CSQ helps reduce the cost of training, improving access to upskilling opportunities and enabling a more skilled and adaptable workforce across Queensland’s construction industry.

 

CSQ Funding Eligibility

Competency Training offers funded programs under the Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Higher Qualifications and Short Courses initiatives.

To be eligible for CSQ funding, you must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident or hold a valid
    visa with the right to work in Australia and have been employed in the
    Queensland Building and Construction Industry for at least 6 months.

What you can access:

  • Higher Qualifications: Enrol in one CSQ-funded qualification at a time. A mandatory co-contribution fee of $500 applies.
  • Short Courses: Access up to eight (8) funded short courses during the program period, with a maximum of three (3) High Risk Work courses (excluding asbestos).

You are not eligible if you are:

  • An apprentice or trainee, or completing the training as part of an apprenticeship or traineeship;
  • A current Queensland secondary school student;
  • An employee of a government authority;
  • Already funded for the same or equivalent course under another program;
  • Completing the course solely as a Verification of Competency (VOC).

CSQ funding is designed to support workers in the building and construction industry to upskill and gain nationally recognised qualifications.

 

Short Course Program

We have a range of short courses available under Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) funding to help you upskill and gain nationally recognised competencies.

High Voltage Switching Operations (HVSO)

The following units are subsidised by CSQ when completed as part of our full High Voltage Switching Operations course:

  • UEPOPS116 Operate local H.V. switchgear
  • UEPOPS117 Operate local L.V. switchgear
  • UEPOPS124 Perform switching to a switching program
  • UEPOPS036 Develop H.V. switching programs
  • UETDREL006 Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
  • UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel

First Aid

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid

Electrical Spotter

  • UETDREL006 Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker

 

Higher Qualifications Program

Our UEE42622 Certificate IV in Hazardous Areas – Electrical is delivered through a blended approach to provide both practical, hands-on experience and flexible learning options.

  • Face-to-Face Training: Spend one week in a classroom environment at one of our training facilities. During this intensive block, you will complete a mix of theory and practical assessments designed to demonstrate your competency across 8 units.
  • RPL Component: The remaining 4 units are completed through a self-paced online Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process, allowing you to leverage your existing skills and experience.

A student co-contribution fee of $500 applies to this funded program.

This delivery model is designed to give you the best of both worlds – structured, expert-led training combined with the flexibility to progress online at your own pace.

Keystone Tasmania

Competency Training is an approved training provider working in conjunction with
Keystone Tasmania.

Keystone Tasmania will cover the nominated percentage of the advertised course cost
(plus GST if applicable) for applicants who qualify under the Building and Construction
Industry Training Fund Act 1990.
