Competency Training News

New Perth training facility

POSTED: March 8 2011

Competency Training is excited to announce the imminent completion of our new High Voltage Switching training centre in Perth, Western Australia.

Enrolments are open for the first HV Switching course at the new centre, scheduled from 4-8 April 2011 and a special introductory rate is on offer!

While we have delivered training in Perth for some time, the dedicated centre will provide us with the platform to comprehensively deliver nationally accredited training in High Voltage Switching, Isolation and Access to customers in Western Australia. The use of our own HV equipment in a controlled environment avoids the need for access to installed equipment at client sites for practical training and assessment sessions, which often requires an interruption to normal HV supply to part or all of the plant.

Equipment at the Malaga facility will include a variety of HV switches for indoor and outdoor equipment, as well as PPE, test equipment, operating rods and portable earthing devices. These items are utilised in the training and assessment process to ensure a quality training experience and a robust educational outcome.

The equipment is also designed to be transportable, allowing us to take our training to regional areas like the Pilbara and provide the same off-site advantages for the same quality courses that we run in Perth.

HV courses will be run on a public basis, meaning that our customers can enrol as few or as many people as they can make available for a session – there are no minimum numbers and individuals and private contractors are welcome.

The Perth expansion follows the opening of Competency Training’s new Brisbane centre in November 2010, conveniently located in Brisbane’s inner city with state-of-the-art training facilities.

A new High Voltage training facility is also in the pipeline for Melbourne and more information will be released soon.
