PLC System Engineering – Fundamentals

Overview

The PLC System Engineering – Fundamentals course provides a skillset to troubleshoot / setup a tcp/ip ethernet network for PLC’s connected to a lan/wan with wifi and present methods of incorporating real time clock functions, counters and converting ladder into function blocks. Other topics covered and discussed include i/o, adc & dac, comparators, counters, p&id functionality, ip addresses, sub-nets and modbus communication.

3 Days, introduction and basics covered with theory and practical exercises.

Delivered at one of Competency Training’s national training centres or at a clients facility.

Price

$4,500 GST Excluded, per student and requires a minimum of 4 students.

Payment Options include:
A valid Purchase Order for the total Course Fee amount (with the full amount listed).
Competency Training will hold an initial deposit of $1,500 per student. The remaining balance of the course fee is to be paid upon the course commencement date as stipulated within this course booking confirmation and your invoice.

Course Outline

The PLC Systems Engineering – Fundamentals course provides a pathway for theoretical and practical skills and knowledge to be able to select, install, commission, fault find and maintain equipment and systems for the control of plant, machines and processes utilising PLC and Networks.

1. On completion, the students will understand basic networks, tcp/ip addressing and subnet/masks, wi-fi setup, plc setup, programming basics for plc, ladder and function block creation.

2. The classroom component of the course consists of three days of training. The course covers the following topics:

  • Basic TCP/IP Networking;
  • PLC Fundamentals;
  • Ladder Logic;
  • System Functions and Data Array;
  • Function blocks
  • MODBUS Setup and Testing
  • and more

*This is a non-accredited course and is designed to give real world practical knowledge.

Outcomes

Students will receive a Certificate of Completion at end of course

  • IP Addresses, Subnets, Identify, Hub/Switch, Wi-Fi
  • Further discussion on Radio, Fibre Optics, Signal, Data
  • Systematic Approach on Hardware, I/O, ADC/DAC, Software
  • Digital I/O, Counters, Timers, System Functions, RTC, Comparators
  • Ladder and Function Blocks
  • Further discussion on Remote Monitoring, HMI / SCADA, Remote IO
  • Plus block diagram discussion on PID Control, Conveyors
