CPR+LVR

Course Overview

This nationally recognised course provides participants with the necessary skills to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, as well as immediate emergency response in the event of a low voltage electric shock.

Duration

6 hours

Location

Delivered at one of Competency Training’s national training centres, or at a client’s facility.

Price

$150 (GST exclusive)

This course meets the requirement for CPR and low voltage rescue initial training and refresher training.

PROVIDE CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR)

This CPR course will enable participants to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

On completion of the course, participants will be able to respond to an emergency and perform CPR. The course content includes:

    • Legislation and standards, including the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines
    • Duty of care requirements
    • Emergency response procedures
    • DRSABCD
    • Management of an unconscious breathing casualty
    • Practical performance of CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin
    • Practical performance of CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin
    • OPerate and follow the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

In recognition of our client base, we also discuss site emergency procedures where 000/ambulance isn’t the main emergency contact.

Low Voltage Rescue (LVR)

The Low Voltage Rescue course covers the performance of rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables. The course includes the following topics:

      • Electrical hazards
      • Electric shock response procedures
      • Site emergency procedures where 000 isn’t the primary emergency contact
      • Low Voltage Rescue Kit – contents and inspection requirements
      • Effective use of the items contained in the low voltage rescue kit.
      • Effective use of a fire blanket to extinguish flames
      • Review of CPR requirements
      • Practical performance of a simulated rescue, using the fire blanket and low voltage rescue kit, as well as performing CPR

This course can be customised to suit client or site requirements. One option is to include Substation Safety/Access training, which provides familiarisation with substation equipment and procedures. Contact us for more information on customised options.

Units of competency

HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
UETTDRRF06B Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for all site personnel who require initial CPR certification or annual CPR refresher training. It is primarily intended for electrical workers and other personnel who may be required to act as a Safety Observer during low voltage operations.

In most states, there is a requirement that electrical workers maintain current first aid and resuscitation skills. This course meets the requirement for annual CPR and low voltage rescue refresher training.

REFRESHER TRAINING

In accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines and electrical regulatory requirements, Competency Training recommends that this training is refreshed annually.
