To assist electrical workers in formalising their knowledge and expertise in the hazardous area field, we are introducing a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment pathway for the units of competency around conducting a conformity assessment. These nationally recognised units include:
Unit | Description |
---|---|
UEENEEM036A | Conduct a conformity assessment of explosion-protected equipment – gas atmospheres |
UEENEEM037A | Conduct a conformity assessment of explosion-protected equipment – dust atmospheres |
This assessment only pathway covers the production of certification documentation of explosion-protected equipment. This competency is required when a certificate of conformity does not exist and the production of a conformity assessment document is required.
The applicant is required to provide evidence that demonstrates the following :
- Skills and knowledge and ability to compare certification documents
- Compare requirements of IEC or AS/NZS Standards with alternative standards on which the original certification was based
- Knowledge of explosion-protection techniques
- Technical report writing
