Welding Electrical Safety course is now available!

POSTED: January 8 2015

Did you know that in the past three years, the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum has received notification of more than 160 electric shock incidents during welding, an average of more than one incident every week? (Reference Mines Safety Bulletin 117, dated Dec 22, 2014)

Competency Training, in conjunction with the Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA), has developed a course to raise awareness among personnel. The course is based on WTIA technical notes 7 (Health and Safety in Welding) and 22 (Welding Electrical Safety) and covers topics including:

  • Legislation and Australian Standards,
  • Work practices and equipment, including PPE,
  • Insulating materials,
  • Voltage reduction devices (VRDs), and
  • Case studies of welding incidents

This course is currently available as a company course and we are taking expressions of interest for individual enrolments. For more information or to make a booking, contact us.

I have left the course feeling a lot more confident in my abilities to complete my EEHA responsibilities at site. There was a lot of content but our trainer delivered it in a way that was not overwhelming.

There is more than enough in the course content to make sure we walk away qualified.
