Course Outline

This course meets the requirement for CPR and low voltage rescue initial training and refresher training.

PROVIDE CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR)

This CPR course will enable participants to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

On completion of the course, participants will be able to respond to an emergency and perform CPR. The course content includes:

    • Legislation and standards, including the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines
    • Duty of care requirements
    • Emergency response procedures
    • DRSABCD
    • Management of an unconscious breathing casualty
    • Practical performance of CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin
    • Practical performance of CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin
    • Operate and follow the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

In recognition of our client base, we also discuss site emergency procedures where 000/ambulance isn’t the main emergency contact.

Low Voltage Rescue (LVR)

The Low Voltage Rescue course covers the performance of rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables. The course includes the following topics:

      • Electrical hazards
      • Electric shock response procedures
      • Site emergency procedures where 000 isn’t the primary emergency contact
      • Low Voltage Rescue Kit – contents and inspection requirements
      • Effective use of the items contained in the low voltage rescue kit.
      • Effective use of a fire blanket to extinguish flames
      • Review of CPR requirements
      • Practical performance of a simulated rescue, using the fire blanket and low voltage rescue kit, as well as performing CPR

Student / Participant Suitability

This course is designed for individuals who are required to perform or assist in low voltage electrical work and may be involved in rescue or first aid response situations. It is particularly suitable for:

      • Electrical workers, apprentices, and tradespeople who work on or near low voltage electrical installations.
      • Personnel who are required to maintain current CPR and Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) competencies as part of their workplace safety requirements.
      • Supervisors, safety observers, or other employees who may be designated as a safety standby person during electrical work.
      • Anyone seeking to refresh or validate their CPR and LVR skills in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and industry standards.

Participants should have the physical capability to perform CPR on an adult and infant manikin on the floor and participate in simulated rescue scenarios involving low voltage rescue equipment.
