The Low Voltage Rescue course covers the performance of rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables. The course includes the following topics:

  • Electrical hazards
  • Electric shock response procedures
  • Site emergency procedures where 000 isn’t the primary emergency contact
  • Low Voltage Rescue Kit – contents and inspection requirements
  • Effective use of a fire blanket to extinguish flames
  • Effective use of the items contained in the low voltage rescue kit.
  • Brief review of CPR requirements
  • Practical performance of a simulated rescue, using the fire blanket and low voltage rescue kit, as well as performing CPR

This course can be customised to suit client or site requirements. One option is to include Substation Safety/Access training, which provides familiarisation with substation equipment and procedures. Contact us for more information on customised options.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

Upon successful completion of the course, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following Units of Competency will be issued:

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Who Should Attend?

This course is primarily intended for electrical workers and other personnel who may be required to act as a Safety Observer during low voltage operations.

In most states, there is a requirement that electrical workers maintain current first aid and resuscitation skills. This course is suitable to provide annual refreshing of low voltage rescue skills.

REFRESHER TRAINING

In most states, there is a requirement that electrical workers maintain current first aid and resuscitation skills. This course is suitable to provide annual refreshing of low voltage rescue skills.

COMBINED CPR / LOW VOLTAGE RESCUE

Competency Training also offers a nationally recognised Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course. The prerequisite for the Low Voltage Rescue unit is cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the two units can be delivered as a combined course for company clients. The combined course duration is 8 hours.
